Release Note: v1.0

Release date: January 2026
Status: Active / Calibration Phase

This release marks the first public prototype of TCI. Version 1.0 establishes the core methodology and classification schema and introduces an initial validation set of cases spanning technical and institutional domains.

Included Cases

  • CI-1983-AC143 — Fuel Unit Conversion Failure (Gimli Glider)
A catastrophic protocol mismatch during the transition between metric and imperial systems in aerospace refueling operations, resulting in total engine flameout. Classified as a Type II: Protocol Mismatch with high severity.

  • CI-MET-ASTOR — Pedagogical Decomposition of Integrated Knowledge Systems
An institutional conversion failure in museum education, where an integrated epistemology of Chinese literati gardens was decomposed into modular symbolic units. Classified as Semantic Drift with moderate epistemic severity.

Scope and Limitations

The v1.0 dataset is intentionally tiny. Its purpose is to validate the analytical framework rather than to provide comprehensive coverage.

Next Steps

Subsequent releases will expand the case set across additional domains and refine comparative methods for assessing conversion loss, particularly in cases involving interpretive or linguistic transfer. We welcome contributors from all backgrounds giving your accounts of failed or successful transfers.

Looking forward to your contributions! Submit a case here.
