Announcement: Preliminary Case Batch for Classical Chinese Translation
As part of an ongoing Classical Chinese translation project, this batch documents a systemic pattern of translational friction. We are currently cataloging a set of foundational concepts that resist one-to-one mapping and are frequently distorted by traditional Western translations. Preliminary stubs for three sub-cases are provided below and will be expanded as the broader translation research is published.

Administrative Notes
1. Authorship and Attribution Due to user-role limitations on our current WordPress subscription tier, Jiarui Liu (Project Manager) is listed as the default author in the site’s metadata for all published pages. However, The Conversion Index is a collaborative effort. We are currently manually updating the text of older cases to explicitly credit individual researchers and contributors. Once the manual attribution is complete, a formal notice will be posted. If the project scales to a higher CMS tier in the future, native author profiles will be integrated.
2. Chronology and Archival Dates To preserve the accurate timeline of our research, case studies are often backdated to their original date of creation rather than their date of digital publication. There is frequently a lag between drafting a case, passing it through review, and formatting it for the database. For the most accurate timeline of a specific case’s development, please refer to the “Date:” tag located at the top of the individual case report.
3. v1.1 Methodology Migration (Ongoing) Following the recent structural upgrade to our classification methodology (shifting to a commensurability framework), many existing posts in the database are currently marked as “Preliminary Documentation.” We are actively editing and expanding these cases to reflect the updated STS framework. Please check back regularly as these stubs are developed into full reports.
4. Index Maintenance and Case Count TCI prioritizes quality over sheer volume. We only publish cases once they are sufficiently documented to provide a useful preview of the translational friction at play. There are almost always multiple Work in Progress cases. Because the master summary table is updated manually, there may occasionally be a delay between a case going live and its appearance in the directory.
